I had so much to say in a review while reading: that the imagery is phenomenal, the pacing is peaceful but engaging, the Australian dialect and vocabulary come across as pure and genuine, that even the character of four-year-old Lucy is impressively developed. Then I finished the novel, and although the ending isn’t what I had hoped for all along, all I can think is that this was an extraordinary, beautiful book. It’s a story about forgiveness, and love, and life, and how those things may not be fair but that doesn’t mean they aren’t worth it. Plus the setting is flawless; I have fallen in love with lighthouses, and I will be recommending this book to everybody.
